What to include in your report

To help us reproduce the issue quickly, please include:

• Device model and OS version (e.g. iPhone 15 / iOS 18.4)
• SmartCalcu version number
• Exact steps to reproduce, and what you expected to happen
• For recognition errors, describe the expression you wrote; a screenshot helps a lot

Troubleshooting

Handwriting is recognized incorrectly

• Write larger and leave gaps between characters so they do not touch
• Write near the baseline of the whiteboard, not along the edges
• Make ambiguous characters distinct — 1 vs. 7, x vs. ×, dot vs. comma
• Use "Undo stroke" to fix a bad stroke, then recognize again

Voice input does nothing

• Confirm microphone permission is granted; on iOS / macOS, speech recognition permission is also required
• On some OS versions the system speech service needs a network connection — check connectivity
• Speak clearly in a quiet environment, e.g. "twelve times three plus four"
• If it still fails, keypad and handwriting input work independently

The app says the formula is invalid

• Check that all brackets are paired
• Check for consecutive operators or a trailing operator
• Division by zero is not allowed

Slow start, or stuck on "Preparing"

• The recognition engine is initialized on first launch; give it a few seconds
• The web version downloads the recognition model on first visit — stay online and wait for it to finish
• If it stays in the preparing state, quit the app completely and reopen it
